October 21 Apple Update
Orchard Update 10.21.26

October
Good afternoon everyone! I am LOVING this gorgeous weather, especially since we had a decent frost and my allergies are clearing up. We've had so many fabulous visitors these past few weeks and are looking forward to continuing the trend until November 22nd. While we are sold out of honeycrisp, we still have a ton of fabulous apples for you to choose from on your visit. If you're looking for great keepers consider the idared or keepsake, something juicy - the fuji, or something unique - perhaps the snow sweet or cameo. The McIntosh and Cortland apples have started their mellow phase meaning they are sweeter and softer - perfect for applesauce and other baking options. We also know quite a few customers who just love to eat them at this point, especially kids who are dealing with missing or loose teeth. Can't make a decision? That's why we have our sampler bags available. Choose either a five or ten apple variety pack where each apple is individually labeled so you'll be able to know what you exactly like at this time of year.
The pumpkin patch is officially OPEN! (be sure to read below how our pumpkin patch works)
We pressed yet another huge batch of fresh apple cider so the cooler is all stocked up. Our cider is unpasteurized and unpreserved so be sure to give your jug a big shake before you pour a glass. We will also have fresh apple cider donuts and caramel apples to start the days Thursday through Sunday, or until they sell out.
Call ahead (608) 635-4780 to order your bushels* and save $5/bushel.
*The best way to reach us is a phone call. Someone will either answer or call you back. Please don't email or text our personal phones.

Website Pop Up Update: One thing to note is that if you head to the main orchard website www.lapaceksorchard.com you'll notice that there is a pop up that shows up when you go there. I keep an updated list of apples available in the shop on that pop up. It's a great way for you to check if your favorite apples are FINALLY ready! I also will update when apples are running low on there too.

Click on the variety to find out more about them and get a yummy recipe!

Apple Cheat Sheet
As varieties ripen at the orchard I'm going to put together a little "cheat sheet" for you all like you can see on the right. The top section is for fresh eating and the bottom section is for processing. I hope this helps your shopping experience!

Fresh Apple Cider!
We pressed the another batch of cider today so the cooler will be fully stocked for you all tomorrow.
Our cider is unpasteurized and unpreserved. It should be kept refrigerated and will store for around 10 - 14 days once purchased regardless if you open the jug or not. Check that the lid is on securely and give your cider a good shake before you drink/pour yourself a glass.
Enjoy our Cider After Dark Drink Episodes
As most of you know, we have some great cider mixed drinks on our Cider After Dark YouTube channel. We did our first episode this season with an apple slush! And my new favorite - Apple-rol Spritz!
An oldie but goodie - Apple Cider Old Fashioned!

Pumpkin Patch Open
Our pumpkin patches are officially open for the season! We keep it really simple around here. Grab a wagon by the shed (if you see one available) and head out to the patch either behind the goats or behind the house. Pick which pumpkins you like. Put those pumpkins in your car. Then, come in the store to buy them. Just let us know how many tiny, small, medium and large pumpkins you grabbed! We don't need them hauled in the shop - that's not fun for anyone.
Don't want to go out to the pumpkin patch? Grab some pre-picked pumpkins that you see out front and follow the same procedure to pay. Pumpkins to car first - then come in the shop to pay.

Handcrafted Hoedown for the Holiday's
Mark your calendars! The 19th annual Handcrafted for the Holiday's is happening! It's been such a huge success that we're even going to be expanding the space we have it in so folks have more room for shopping!
Friday, November 20th: 10-5
Saturday, November 21st: 10-4
A list of vendors for the 2029 Hoedown will be posted soon!

Giant Dandelions!
Last week I shared something little that was making me very happy - this week it's something giant. I LOVE dandelions. I know, I know, they're a weed, but they're so pretty in bloom AND you get to make a wish on them. I found giant (I would say about 3 feet tall) dandelions that I am selling! I think a bunch of three of these in a vase in the corner of a room would add some perfect whimsy. Or just a single one to add mystery to the room.
The main purpose of our shop is to sell our apples and apple products but I hope you take a minute or twenty to look around the gift options as well. It's time to start thinking about Christmas gifts and we may just have the perfect thing!

Apple Wood Bundles
I don't think I've ever mentioned this on the newsletter before but we do have apple wood for sale!
Pip (yes Pip!) and Jared chop up apple wood during the winter and they've taken the time to package it into either bundles, no bark bundles or face cords. You can find this under the lean by the pumpkin picking wagons. No need to bring the wood into the shop! Just let us know what quantity you're purchasing and we can even help you get it to your vehicle.

Thank you all for your support over the years and we're looking forward to another great season!
See you at the orchard,
~Kim Lapacek
