Caramel Topping or Caramel Coating?
One of the "Frequently Asked Questions" at the orchard is "What is the difference between the Caramel Apple Coating and the Caramel Apple Topping?" Great question! Both caramels are delicious but they are definitely different.

The caramel apple coating is a thicker caramel that we heat up to coat our apples to make caramel apples. The caramel is delicious but you do need to warm it up a bit to be able to dip into it or make your own caramel apples. It also is great if you just want to warm it up, pour it on a cookie sheet and cut it up into caramel pieces for Christmas time!

The caramel apple topping is a runnier, caramel sauce. It is great for dipping apple slices in. If you try to make caramel apples with it they caramel will not stick to the apple. My daughter will pour a little on her apple, take a bite, and pour more on for her next bite. It is also great poured on ice cream or even into your coffee to add some fun!
Both of these caramels are stored at room temperature and have a really long shelf life. I honestly couldn't tell you which is a better seller - they both fly off the shelves at Lapacek's Orchard.
