Scarlet Apples and Hot Cinnamon Cider Recipe

Writer: Kim LapacekKim Lapacek

The scarlet apples are my favorite trees in May. They bloom in pink! It's so crazy - even the bark on this tree has a reddish hue to it. The apple is a dark red and the flesh of the apple is pink.

Approximate Ripening Date: August 15th

Flavor: TART! This small beautiful pink apple has an insanely tart bite! If you're into tart this apple is for you. If you're hesitant at all about tarts apple I'd skip it! They do not keep so grab some when you see them listed. Only keeps for about 1 week.

Baking: Keeps it's shape when baked. While the flavor is too tart for me I do enjoy mixing it in to my early baking endeavors to add that pop of pink coloring.
