Shizuka Apples and Microwave Apple Recipe

An interesting fact I found out while researching the Shizuka apple is that it will not pollinate other apple varieties. Hmmm.

Approximate Ripening Date: September 14th

Flavor: This sweet-tart, apple with a distinctive light, crisp flesh is a Golden Delicious type apple with good flavor.

Baking: The Shizuka will keep its shape when baked. It is also slow to brown when cut so it makes for a great salad apple.

History: Golden Delicious x Indo cross developed in Japan and released to the public in 1986.
